Union Fire Company of Medford was first organized in 1814 when a Friends Meetinghouse was built on what is now Union Street. Upon completion of the building the members felt that protection against fire was important. So, hanging a few leather buckets filled with water around that building began the foundation of the organization of the Union Fire Company, as we know it today. Union Fire Company is also known as Burlington County Station 251. The local coverage area is the northern half of Medford Township. We also provide mutual aid coverage to the surrounding towns including Medford Lakes, Southampton Township, Tabernacle Township, Shamong Township, Evesham Township, Mt. Laurel Township and Lumberton in addition to responding to all structure and rescue assignments within Medford Township. |
