Just as we are digging out from this weekend's snowfall, another storm looms on the horizon for Medford Township forecast to arrive Tuesday evening into Wednesday. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for our area that includes snow accumulation predictions of 10 to 18 inches with periods of sleet broken into two "bursts" within the storm, Tuesday Night and Wednesday Midday. Additionally, winds heavier than seen during the weekend will create blowing snow conditions that will dangerously reduce visibility. Any travel will be considered extremely dangerous during the storm event.

Winter storms such as this past weekend's event and the upcoming event can be extremely dangerous. Conditions can rapidly deteriorate from a calm snowfall into blizzard-like conditions with no visibility beyond a few feet. These conditions, when combined with driving, lead to deadly accidents as seen this past weekend in other areas. The further addition of sleet can bring down trees, wires, and other obstructions to the roadway..

In anticipation of the forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, Medford Township’s salt and plow crews will be out beginning Tuesday afternoon. Crews will be salting and plowing all roads starting main roads, followed by secondary streets. Developments and cul-de-sacs will be done last. Crews will remain until the storm ends.

PLEASE TRY TO KEEP CARS OFF THE ROADS DURING THE STORM SO PLOWS CAN PLOW THE ROADS.
