High winds and heavy snow have caused power outages throughout the southeastern section of Medford Township. Atlantic City Electric estimates 1900 residents without electric service in the Medford area. Areas include Cardinal Ridge, Centennial Lakes, Mimosa Lakes, and Taunton Lakes.
Due to the cold temperatures, the Medford Township Office of Emergency Management will be opening a shelter for Medford residents at Medford Memorial School located at 55 Mill Street in Medford. The shelter will provide food, restroom facilities, and showers for residents who are unable to stay in their homes. Residents in need of the shelter can contact the Medford Police Communications Center at 609-654-7511 for transportation if needed.
Medford Township Public Works crews are working with extra staffing around the clock to plow and clear roadways, as well as clearing trees and limbs from the roadways.
Medford Township Office of Emergency Management issued an Emergency Declaration at 23:30 hours on February 9, 2010 due to the expected severity of the storm. The Emergency Operations Center has been open around the clock since Tuesday evening coordinating public safety and public works efforts.
All schools in the Township have been closed for February 11, 2010, as well as the Township Offices.
