This winter has set records in our area for the amount of snow that we have received so far this season, and now another storm approaches Medford Township with the possibility of more snow on the way. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning as well as a Flood Advisory and Flood Warningfor our area that includes snow accumulation predictions of 6 to 14 inches over a 48 hour period starting Thursday into Friday. Additionally, existing snow melt and recent rain fall have added to risk of flooding by rising area creeks and lakes above the flooding stage.
Winter storms such as we have had so far this year can be extremely dangerous, with the additional risk of flooding adds new hazards that make traveling during the storm risky. Remember to NEVER drive through flooded areas and avoid roadways that may have floodwater encroaching within the right of way, these areas can be deeper than expected.
In anticipation of the forecast, Medford Township’s crews are prepared for the upcoming storm and will treat all roads starting with the main (primary) roads, followed by secondary streets. Developments and cul-de-sacs will be done last. Crews will remain in service until the storm ends.
PLEASE TRY TO KEEP CARS OFF THE ROADS DURING THE STORM SO PLOWS CAN PLOW THE ROADS.
