The firefighters that respond with the both Union and Taunton fire companies are your neighbors, co-workers, friends and even family members. Men and women from throughout Medford Township volunteer their time serving the community from all corners of our township. You can become part of this team, starting with the information you find on our web site here. Becoming a volunteer firefighter is one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences that is possible.

How do I join?

The first step is to fill out the form below, a member of the Fire Division staff will contact you with more information on the process and answer any questions you may have. If you are interested in speaking with someone immediately, call our offices at (609) 953-3291 between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. You can also download and print out the application form package to begin completing the required paperwork that must be returned to the Division offices at 91 Union Street. The membership application process will include a confidential background check that is explained in the application package.

What happens next?

After you complete the application package and the process is completed, you will join the volunteer fire companies in Medford Township closest to your residence as a probationary member. If required, you will receive training through a regional training center such as the Burlington County Emergency Services Training Center, earning a certification as a New Jersey Firefighter or Fire Police Officer. These courses are available in flexible schedule formats including weeknights and weekends to accomadate your schedule as a new volunteer. The required personal protective equipment and safety gear is provided by the Division of Fire.
