Welcome

Chief’s Welcome

Welcome to the Township of Medford, Department of Fire & EMS website!  I am pleased to take a moment to welcome you to our community and moreover to your Department.

The fire department operates out of three stations (two fire and one EMS) and providing a variety of emergency services. We provide fire suppression, BLS emergency medical service, emergency rescue, hazard mitigation, fire code enforcement, fire prevention and fire investigation for the Township of Medford.

The Township has a population of approximately 25,000 residents concentrated in residential subdivisions that encompass 40 square miles and 179 miles of roadways. We currently provide mutual aid to all towns in Burlington County (819 sq. miles) and Camden County (227 sq. mile) through a county-wide mutual aid agreement.

In 2016 we responded to 3466 calls for service. We are located immediately below Class B and Class C airspace and the corridors used for ingress and egress for three civilian airports, four international airports, and one military Air Force Base. The Township has approximately 50 bodies of water which drain into the Rancocas Creek. The daytime population increases by approximately 60% due to shopping centers, office complexes, transient traffic and 3 Regional High Schools, which is the fourth largest school district in the state. Additionally, there are 6 elementary schools and one middle school within the Township. During the summer, five youth camps operate within the Township. Also, there are 2 large senior citizen residential and convalescent health care complexes. Our Township serves as a transition community between two suburban and three rural communities.

Since 1814, when fire protection was formally organized, we serve the community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, responding to all types of emergencies to keep the public and its members safe.  We continue these traditions today and strive for continuous improvement in all that we do to provide the best possible services to our community.
